Our Lady's College Remembers 

‘Our Lady’s College Remembers’ was created for members of our community at the beginning of the Covid- 19 pandemic. It was intended to be a space where those who were  suffering during this terrible and tragic time could be acknowledged and prayed for.

Our vibrant school community is diverse in many ways not least in its religious and non-religious diversity. This space is an inter-faith space for people from different religious and non-religious traditions to ask that their Intention to be prayed for or to have their deceased loved ones remembered. The names featured in this space are included in the prayers of our school community and the Augustinian community. 

This space remains open and active and you are invited to  acknowledge your suffering and worries at this time or to have your deceased loved ones remembered.

We pray for the repose of the soul of Jean Rooney, beloved mother of Jackie, who has sadly passed away. We pray for the Rooney and Leech families at this sad and difficult time. May they feel Jean's loving presence with them always. May she rest in peace. 

We pray for the repose of the soul of Mal Mooney, beloved father of Joy Mooney(6C), who passed away suddenly. We pray for the Mooney family, that they may feel Mal's loving presence with them always and be comforted in this time of heartbreak and loss. May he rest in peace. 

We pray for the repose of the soul of Rose O'Reilly, beloved mother of Bonnie, who has sadly passed away. We pray also for her family, may they feel her loving presence close to them always. May she rest in peace. 

We pray for the repose of the soul of Peter McCullough, grandfather of teacher Ms Katie Flynn, who has passed away. We remember the McCullough and Flynn families in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace. 

We pray for the repose of Mary Branigan, who worked for years as bursar in our school community . We remember the Branigan family in our prayers and hope they feel her presence with them always. May she rest in peace. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Ashling Murphy's family, friends, colleagues and pupils at this heartbreaking time. May her family and friends always feel her close to them and may God give them strength and courage at this time of devastation. We pray for the repose of Ashling's soul and that she may rest in peace. 

We pray for the are Lunny and O'Connor families at this heartbreaking time. May God give them strength and courage to cope with their tragic loss. We pray for the repose of Shane's soul and that he may rest in peace. May his family and friends feel his presence close to them always. 

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Deirdre McEntee, mother-in-law of Bettina Wuerdinger, who has passed away. We remember the McEntee family in our thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace. 

We pray for the repose of the souls Patrick Simpson ( December 2006), Lawrence Ibiyemi Bolaji ( November 2018) and Alice Bolaji Lawrence (October 2020), grandparent of Sholah Lawrence (1C). May they rest in peace.

We pray for the repose of the soul of Ademola Animashaun who died on the 25/09/2020. We remember his bereaved family in our prayers, may they feel his presence with them always. May he rest in peace.

We remember Sinead Reilly, a past student and beloved aunty of Aine Marron (3C), who passed away suddenly on the 24th of February 2019. We continue to pray for the Reilly family, may they feel her presence close to them always. May she rest in peace.

 We pray for the repose of the souls of Bernie Carvin and Carol Reynolds beloved grandmothers to Keysha Carvin (6C). May they rest in peace.

 We pray for the repose of the soul of Johnny Kierans beloved grandfather of Ellie Riggs (6 F) and Jessie Riggs (1 C). May God comfort the Kierans and Riggs families in their grief. May he rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the souls of Patsy and Alice McKenna, beloved grandparents of Beth O’Connell ( 2A). May they rest in peace.

 

We pray for the repose of the soul of Sylvia Anne Nolan Nee Plant, beloved grandmother to Emma Neilon (5F) and Rachel Neilon (3C). We pray God will comfort these bereaved families and that they will feel Sylvia’s presence close to them always. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Erika Bartelt, beloved mother of Ms Karin O'Hare and grandmother of Lois (6F), who has sadly passed away. We pray for all of the Bartelt and O'Hare families, may God give them strength during this time of loss and grief and may they feel her presence close to them always. May she rest in peace. 

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Ms Margaret McCartan, a much loved former teacher of Our Lady’s College. Margaret will be remembered for her passion for teaching, her great sense of fun and her commitment to care for the students she taught. We pray that Margaret’s husband Phil and their family may feel her presence close to them always. May this give them comfort and strength during this difficult time of loss and grief. May Margaret rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Enda McKeon, uncle of Ms Aine McKeon, who has died suddenly. We pray for Enda’s heartbroken family, that they may receive some comfort in God’s presence during this time of loss and grief. We pray also that they will feel his presence close to them always.  May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bernadette Conlon, mother to past students Kayleigh, Hannah and Bethany, who suddenly passed away after a short illness. We pray for Bernadette’s heartbroken family, that God will give them strength and comfort during this time of loss and grief. We pray that her family will feel her presence close to them always. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Wendy Fanning, mother of Abi Fanning (3D), who has sadly passed away following an illness. May she rest in peace. We pray for all of Wendy’s heartbroken family, that they may receive some comfort in God’s presence during this time of loss and grief. We pray also that they, especially her children, will feel her presence close to them always. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Vera O’Boyle, mother of Ms Grainne Diskin, who sadly passed away. We pray for all the O’Boyle and Diskin family, may God give them strength during this time of loss and grief. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Dareen Fontanilla, boyfriend of Art teacher  Maja Nowicka, who tragically drowned recently. We pray for Maja and the Fontanilla family during this time of loss and grief. May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Karen Meegan, who graduated from OLC in 1999. We pray for her heartbroken family and young children. May God give them strength and comfort in this time of loss. May they always feel her presence with them. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Miriam (Mim) McVeigh née Kelly, who graduated in 2004 from OLC. We pray for her heartbroken family and young children. May God comfort them in their grief and loss and may they always feel her presence with them.  May she rest in peace.

 Please pray for the repose of the souls of Rosemary Gumba, aunt of Sheila Whyte(3E), and her grandmother Mary who have both passed away recently.  May they rest in peace. We pray for the Gumba and Whyte family. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Carmel Savage, a past student of Our Lady’s College and wife of Mr John Savage and mother to Ms Anne and Ruth Savage, who has sadly passed away. May she rest in peace. We pray for all of the Savage family during this time of loss and grief. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bobby Carson, grandfather of Ryanna Carson (3A), who has sadly passed away. May he rest in peace. We remember all of the Carson family in our prayers. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Joan Sugrue, who has sadly passed away after a long illness. Joan taught Home Economics in OLC a few years ago. We pray for the repose of Joan’s soul and all of her family at this terribly sad time. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for Séan Sharkey, brother of Aoibhínn Sharkey (1D), who died suddenly on the 23rd of January 2021. May he rest in peace. Please keep all of the Sharkey family in your thoughts and prayers at this very sad and tragic time. May God comfort them in their grief and sorrow. 

 Please pray for Alfreda and Seamus Mc Evoy and Jimmy Barnes, deceased grandparents of Emma Barnes (6A). May they rest in peace. We pray for the McEvoy and Barnes families. 

 Please pray for Derek Higgins, the uncle of Chloe Kenna (6D), who died suddenly and tragically. May he rest in peace. We pray for all of his family in their time of loss and grief. 

 Please pray for Mary Rose Bogue, mother of Ms Noeleen Bogue, who sadly passed away on the 11th of December. May she rest in peace. We pray for all of the Bogue family during this time of loss and grief. 

 Please pray for Pat O’Donovan, father of Ms Clara Ní Dhonnabháin, who sadly passed away on the 11th of December. May he rest in peace. Please keep all of the O’ Donovan family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of grief and loss. 

 Please pray for Geraldine Mullen, Caroline Connell’s cousin, who tragically lost her family on the 20th of August 2020. We pray for the repose of the souls of her husband John, son Tomás (14 years old) and her daughter Amelia ( 5 years of age).  May they rest in peace and may God stay close to Geraldine and give her strength to take one day of life at a time. 

 Please pray for Barbara Synnott, mother of Barbara Mullen, who sadly passed away earlier this week. May she rest in peace. We pray also for all of Barbara’s family during this time of loss and grief. 

 Please pray for Vera Rock, grandmother of Katie McCabe (5D), who passed away earlier this year. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Margaret (Peggy) Loughran, mother of Mr John Loughran, who sadly passed away. May she rest in peace. We pray also for all the Loughran family during this time of loss and grief. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Jimmy Healy, grandfather of Megan Kerr (6C), who sadly passed away recently. May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for Patricia Sherry, grandaunt to Sophie Begley (5A), who sadly passed away recently. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for Tanya McEvoy, mother of Aoife Louise, Orla and Gretta (4A), who sadly passed away on the 4th of August following illness over the past year. Tanya was an active member of the Parents’ Council in OLC and she will be greatly missed. We pray for the repose of her soul and for all of her heartbroken family, that they may receive some comfort in God’s presence during this time of loss and grief. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sr Joan Brosnan, a past principal of Our Lady’s College during the 1960s until 1971. Sr Aloysius, as she was known, was a wonderful visionary who spent her life tirelessly working for good. May she rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Michael Reilly. May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for the repose of the soul of Tom Heavey. May he rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sinéad Reilly, a former student of Our Lady’s College and beloved godmother and aunt of Áine Marron (2C), who died suddenly on the 24th of February 2019. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Marie McGuirk, grandmother of Abigail McGuirk (5D), who sadly passed away on 15th of January 2020. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Tom White, grandfather of Lucy McGloin (5E), who sadly passed away on the 16th of May 2020. May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for Bernadette Matthews (née Fitzpatrick), aunt of Deirdre Ryan, who is very ill at the moment. Please pray she will make a full and speedy recovery.

Johnny Kierans, grandfather of Ellie Riggs (4C), who sadly passed away after a short illness. Johnny has long been a supporter and advocate of the Greenhills community having served on the BOM and Parents’ Council. May he rest in peace. 

 Please pray for a young mother who is seriously ill at this time. We pray that she will receive the necessary treatment and care to make a full recovery.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sinéad Maguire, a much-loved student of our school who passed away so suddenly. We pray for the Maguire family and all of Sinead’s friends and fellow sixth-year students, who miss her greatly. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Stephen Coates, grandfather of Anna Coates  (3E), who has sadly passed away. May he rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Ellen Brady, grandmother of Katie McArdle (5E, sister of Róisín McArdle), who sadly passed away. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Kitty (Catherine) Gibney, aunt of Mary Loughran and grandmother to Suzanne Carroll (past student) and Chloe Gibney (LCA1), who sadly passed away. May she rest in peace.

Please pray for a family carrying a heavy burden of worry at this time. Ted Russell, grandfather of Deirdre McWeeney Russell (5 F), who sadly passed away. May he rest in peace.

Sr Cáit Fitzgerald, Daughters of Charity, who sadly passed away. Sr Cáit had a strong commitment to pastoral care and was a leading light on the Drogheda Traveller Support Committee. May she rest in peace.

May 2020  

We remember the Muslim members of our community and hope that they will be strengthened by this time of sacrifice and spiritual renewal during Ramadan. We remember the Hindu members of our community who in their conviction of the oneness and unity of Brahman may be fortified in the belief that there will be peace soon. We remember those of us who do not belong to a religious tradition but who are drawing strength from the kindness and resilience of humanity during this pandemic. We remember the Christian members of our community who following their recent celebration of the Paschal mystery at Easter, are reminded of the hopeful message that Christ is Risen. 

 

In these dark times, we turn to our foundress Nano Nagle and pray that she will shine her light on all of our lives, especially those of us suffering so much. We can all draw strength from knowing in our hearts that ‘love always gives light’ and ‘love never ends’ (Amoris Laetitia, 165; 1Corinthians). 

 

Pope Francis reminds us that “The Lord’s presence dwells in real and concrete families, with all their daily troubles and struggles, joys and hopes’ (Amoris Laetitia, 315). Here we will pay tribute to family members who have passed away or to request prayers or positive thoughts for those who are seriously ill, worried or struggling. We gather our collective consciousness as a community of faith, love and charity and stand together in solidarity.   

 

We pray Rabbi Naomi Levy’s Prayer of Hope for all of us 

 

We are frightened, God, 

Worried for our loved ones, 

Worried for our world. 

Helpless and confused, 

We turn to You 

Seeking comfort, faith and hope. 

Teach us God, to turn our panic into patience,
